SAP Business One
Affordable ERP Designed for Small Businesses
About
SAP Business One is SAP's ERP solution specifically designed for small and mid-size businesses. Unlike SAP S/4HANA (which targets large enterprises), Business One is affordable, relatively simple to implement, and covers all core business processes — financials, sales, purchasing, inventory, manufacturing, and CRM.
The platform runs on either SAP HANA or Microsoft SQL Server database, giving businesses flexibility. With 550+ add-on solutions available from SAP partners, Business One can be extended for industry-specific needs while maintaining the "one system" simplicity that SMBs need.
History
SAP Business One originated from TopManage, an Israeli ERP company founded in 1996. SAP acquired TopManage in 2002 and rebranded the product as SAP Business One. The acquisition gave SAP its first product targeting small businesses — a market SAP's flagship R/3 (later S/4HANA) was too complex and expensive to serve.
Over the past two decades, SAP Business One has grown to serve 80,000+ customers in 170+ countries with support for 28 languages and 44 localizations. The product has evolved significantly — adding HANA database support (2013), cloud deployment (2016), and embedded analytics.
